Covadonga Lakes and Cangas de Onis Day Trip from Oviedo

Visit and learn about the landscape and monuments around the Lakes of Covadonga on this guided tour. You’ll also visit the small town of Cangas de Onís during the tour. All journeys are included in the tour in an air-conditioned vehicle, so getting from one place to another won’t be a problem.

Throughout the tour, which usually lasts around 11 hours, you’ll be accompanied by a tour guide to whom you can direct any questions you may have. They’ll tell you about the history of the places you visit, how they were formed and the significance these landscapes have held over the years.

One of the unmissable stops on the tour is the Entrelagos Viewpoint. From here, you’ll enjoy sweeping views of Lakes Ercina and Enol, which together form the Lakes of Covadonga. You’ll then continue on to the Basilica of Covadonga, which was built using stone quarried from the very mountain on which it stands.

To see the Virgin of Covadonga, or ‘La Santina’, you’ll visit La Cuevona, a cave in the mountain. This is where the Virgin of the Basilica was found (and still remains).

This excursion will also give you the chance to explore the small town of Cangas de Onís, where you’ll find typical Asturian dishes such as fabada, chorizo in cider or cachopo. The visit will take place at lunchtime so that you can head off on your own to whichever restaurant takes your fancy.
