Step by Step

The excursion begins in Madrid, from where you’ll set off by coach to Salamanca, one of Spain’s most important university cities. For around three hours, you’ll explore its historic centre and discover such iconic sites as the Plaza Mayor, the University, the Casa de las Conchas and some of its most representative monuments.

One of the city’s great landmarks is the University of Salamanca, founded in 1218 and considered one of the oldest universities in Europe. You’ll also be able to admire the complex comprising the Old Cathedral and the New Cathedral; the latter can be visited inside if you choose the option with tickets included.

You’ll then continue on to Ávila, a city characterised by its magnificent medieval walled enclosure. During the tour, you’ll learn about the history of the Basilica of San Vicente, the Cathedral and the streets of the old town, as well as having some free time to continue exploring the city at your own pace.

The option with admission tickets includes access to the Ávila City Walls, from where you can admire the city from a unique vantage point, as well as entry to Salamanca Cathedral. At the end of the tour, you’ll return by coach to Madrid, rounding off a day packed with history, architecture and cultural heritage.
