Step by Step

The first stop is San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, one of those places that makes an impression even before you arrive. This small islet, connected to the mainland by a footpath and a flight of steps, stands facing the Cantabrian Sea, surrounded by cliffs and offering unobstructed views of the sea. Here you’ll have time to explore the area and enjoy the scenery at your leisure.

You’ll then continue on to Bermeo, a town with a strong seafaring tradition. During the visit, you’ll explore its old town and some sites linked to the area’s fishing history, gaining an insight into the identity of one of Bizkaia’s most important ports.

The next stop is Mundaka, known for its coastal atmosphere and one of Europe’s most famous left-hand waves. After a short guided tour of the harbour, the church and the town centre, you’ll have free time to have lunch and stroll around at your own pace.

In the afternoon, you’ll arrive in Gernika, a key place for understanding the history and symbolism of the Basque Country. During the tour, you’ll see landmarks such as the Tree of Gernika, the square, the church and the shelters, as well as learn about the 1937 bombing and the painting by Picasso that turned it into a universal symbol.

The day ends with a stop at a txakoli winery, where you’ll be able to sample this wine so closely linked to Basque tradition before heading back to Bilbao.

As a novelty it's fine, but the service was great, nothing to say.
