Step by Step
Hike the Iztaccihuatl volcano for 1 day with this excursion in which you will be accompanied by a local professional guide. The activity usually lasts about 11 hours, and you can ask your guide as many questions as you like, as it is done for small groups of about 8 people, so you can get more personalised attention.
Departure and return journeys are included because the two places are about 90 km apart. Throughout the day you will walk along different trails where you will appreciate the great beauty of this inactive volcano.
An entrance fee is required to access these trails, but this is not a problem for you because it is included in the experience. It will take you on a tour of the valley of Mexico, the Paso de Cortes or the slopes of the dormant volcano itself.
The main route will end near the snow-capped summit at an altitude of about 5000 metres. From here you will be able to see the panoramic view of Popocatepetl, also known as the smoking mountain, in the distance.
As you will always be accompanied by your guide, you will be listening to curious facts about the volcano. These will be related to its formation, history, composition or even the moment when it was no longer considered active.
Halfway through the experience there will be a break where you will have time to have lunch on your own and recharge your batteries for the rest of the walk.
