Step by Step
This full-day excursion from Athens is an excellent way to explore some of the most iconic sites and cities of the Peloponnese. The route begins with a drive along the coastal road and a brief stop at the Corinth Canal, one of the country's best-known passes, before continuing on to the Argolid region.
The first major visit is Mycenae, one of the most important centres of ancient Greek civilisation and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you will discover such emblematic sites as the Cyclopean walls, the Lions' Gate, the royal tombs and the impressive Treasury of Atreus, linked to the legends of Agamemnon. Depending on the option chosen, entrance to the archaeological site will be included.
You will then continue to Nafplion, one of the most beautiful cities in Greece and the first capital of the modern Greek state. You will take a guided walk through the old town and have free time to stroll through its streets, squares and neoclassical buildings, as well as admire the views towards the fortified islet of Bourtzi. Some options also include a traditional 3-course lunch.
The last stop will be Epidaurus, famous for its extraordinary ancient theatre, one of the best preserved of the classical world and also recognised by UNESCO. Its acoustics and state of preservation make it an unmissable visit. After the visit, you will return to Athens in the afternoon after a day focused on history, archaeology and some of Greece's most evocative landscapes.
