Step by Step

Experience high-mountain fly-fishing in one of the United States’ most iconic national parks. This 10-hour private tour takes you through the Tuolumne and Merced river basins, home to crystal-clear waters and wild trout. Your guide will instruct you step by step, from casting technique to handling your catch and releasing it responsibly.

The day begins with a pick-up at your chosen location—Yosemite Basecamp or one of three additional points in the valley—followed by a short drive to the fishing spots. Throughout the day, you’ll stop at Tuolumne Meadows and Tenaya Lake, amongst other alpine settings, making the most of every hour of daylight to maximise your time on the water.

Whilst you’re fishing, your guide will share information about the park’s ecology, the behaviour of the trout and the best fly-fishing techniques. You’ll also enjoy a riverside lunch, with fresh provisions to recharge you for the second half of the day.

This tour is ideal for both novice and experienced anglers alike: the group is private, with personalised attention, and a catch-and-release policy is followed to protect fish stocks. As evening falls, you’ll return to the original meeting point having experienced a day of adventure and nature at its purest.

I went out super relaxed, fishing, nature, fresh air... something I don't do every day. Yosemite gives you moments like that.

For something so personalised, the attention is 10/10; a guide who is attentive to how tired you are, to your rhythm, to make the experience your own.

Some areas were more crowded than expected; book in advance to avoid overlapping with large groups.

I was surprised that they lend you waterproof shoes; it helps a lot to cross streams without getting too wet.
