It’s the perfect way to spot fish, move comfortably through the water and enjoy a different kind of coastal outing.

The activity begins at the diving centre, where you’ll be given the necessary equipment before boarding the boat. From there, you’ll take a boat trip lasting between 5 and 15 minutes to one of the selected snorkelling spots, always seeking out a suitable area to make the most of the marine life.

Step by Step

This boat-based snorkelling tour of Gran Canaria is a brilliant way to explore the island’s marine world in an easy, entertaining and very accessible way. Unlike other, more technical water sports, the aim here is to enjoy the sea from the surface, observing marine life in its natural environment, with all the equipment already prepared for the experience.

The activity begins at the diving centre, where the trip is organised and the equipment is handed out before boarding. This first step ensures you can start the experience in comfort and arrive at the boat fully prepared for the excursion. From there, you’ll enjoy a short boat trip, lasting between 5 and 15 minutes, to one of the selected snorkelling spots.

One of the highlights of this experience is that it is designed exclusively as a snorkelling tour, so the team’s aim is to take you to one of the best areas available for observing marine life. During your underwater exploration, you may encounter common species such as wrasses, damselfish and trumpetfish, as well as other marine animals that are sometimes spotted in the area.

Possible sightings also include manta rays, eagle rays, octopuses and cuttlefish, although it’s worth bearing in mind that nature is unpredictable and these encounters cannot be guaranteed. That is precisely part of the appeal of the activity: every trip can offer a different experience and a very special connection with the island’s marine environment.

During the excursion, you’ll be able to stay in the water for up to 1 hour, using the equipment provided by the centre. The activity includes a wetsuit, a lifejacket if required, a mask, snorkel, boots and fins, making for a comfortable and comprehensive experience for those who simply want to focus on enjoying the sea.

A great way to mix things up a bit during the trip; I’d particularly highlight the snorkelling kit that was included. The atmosphere was lovely and you could tell that lots of people were enjoying themselves.

I thought it was a well-organised activity, particularly because of the short boat journey. We were quite pleased with it.

I went along with no particular expectations and was pleasantly surprised by how well-organised the dive centre was. There are moments of excitement and others that are more relaxed – a good balance. We didn’t see any rays or octopuses, but we did see quite a few small fish.
