Step by Step

The POLIN Museum offers a tour tracing the Jewish presence in Poland from its medieval origins to the present day. Through various galleries, you will discover how communities, neighbourhoods, traditions and ways of life emerged, all of which played a fundamental role in the country’s cultural history.

The main exhibition is designed as a chronological and immersive narrative. Rather than simply displaying artefacts in display cases, it uses reconstructions, historical documents, photographs and multimedia resources to recreate different periods and give you an insight into the daily life of Jewish communities.

One of the most striking features is the reconstruction of the polychrome vaulted ceiling of a wooden synagogue, which allows visitors to imagine the artistic and religious richness of these buildings before they were destroyed.

The tour also addresses the Holocaust, the destruction of Jewish communities during the Nazi occupation and Jewish life in Poland after the Second World War, always within a historical narrative spanning many centuries.

In addition to the permanent exhibition, your ticket grants access to the current temporary exhibition and the Legacy Gallery, allowing you to enhance your visit with content that changes throughout the year.

Trying to see everything in a short space of time was a mistake. It’s a museum best explored at a leisurely pace.
