Step by Step

Immerse yourself in the hustle and bustle and history of Marrakech with this exciting free tour of the imperial city. The tour begins in the heart of the city, Jemaa el-Fna Square, a meeting place for locals, travellers and artists, where your guide will welcome you in front of the iconic Café de France.

Along the route, you’ll visit architectural gems such as the Dar Timtam Palace, built in 1876, and the exterior of the Ben Youssef Madrasa, one of the oldest universities in the Islamic world. You’ll also explore the former slave market and the Marrakech Museum, housed in what was once the country’s first school for girls.

Continuing the tour, you’ll venture into the narrow alleyways of the souk, where you’ll discover traditional Moroccan art: carpets woven by Berber women, furniture carved from cedar wood, and traditional garments such as caftans and Rifian mandils. You’ll also visit a women’s co-operative that produces argan oil, one of Morocco’s natural treasures.

This tour not only allows you to discover the city’s main monuments and customs, but also to gain a better understanding of Moroccan culture through the stories and traditions shared by local guides.
