Step by Step

Siena Cathedral is merely the starting point for a much larger complex of monuments. With this pass, you’ll have access to several of the sites surrounding and complementing the Duomo, allowing you to discover different facets of its history, art and architecture.

Inside the cathedral, you can admire its spectacular decoration and also visit the Piccolomini Library, renowned for its frescoes by Pinturicchio and the richness of its ornamentation.

The tour continues underground with the Crypt, where important pictorial remains are preserved, and at the Baptistery of San Bernardino, one of the most notable religious spaces in the complex.

You can also visit the Museo dell’Opera, which houses sculptures, paintings and original works linked to the cathedral. From there, you can also access the Facciatone, an elevated structure offering a superb panoramic view over Siena and its rooftops.

As the pass is valid for 3 consecutive days, you don’t need to cram everything into a single day. You can spread your visits according to your interests and the opening hours of each monument.

Siena has a much larger religious complex than I had imagined, and this pass allows you to explore it at a leisurely pace.

The museum and the viewing point were the places I enjoyed the most after the Duomo.

A very comprehensive entry for those who want to discover more than just the interior of the Cathedral.

The Oratory was closed when we went, something we’d already been warned about. The rest of the complex more than makes up for it.
