Step by Step

This guided tour of Prague Castle is the perfect way to get to know one of the largest palace complexes in the world without missing anything important. Lasting approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes, you will follow a complete tour of the main monuments of the castle and its surroundings, always accompanied by an English-speaking guide who specialises in the art, history and culture of the Czech Republic.

The starting point is the Powder Tower (Prašná brána), where you will meet your guide 15 minutes before the scheduled time . From there you will travel by public transport to the castle, following the ancient Royal Road used by the kings of Bohemia.

Once on the grounds, you will start with a visit to the imposing St. Vitus Cathedral, the scene of royal coronations and a jewel of European Gothic architecture. Inside you can admire its stained glass windows, the Royal Oratory and the royal jewels, including the legendary Crown of St. Wenceslas, shrouded in stories of power and curses.

The tour continues through the former Royal Palace, with its majestic halls, and St. George's Basilica, which today houses part of the Prague National Gallery's collection of 19th century Bohemian art. Further on you will reach the Golden Alley, one of the most photogenic areas of the castle, where number 22, the house in which Franz Kafka lived for a period of his life, is still preserved.

To complete the experience, the tour descends to the charming Malá Strana district, stopping at Lesser Town Square and the Church of Our Lady of Victory, which houses the famous image of the Infant Jesus of Prague, a place of great devotion and one of the most visited spots in the city.

A magical place to visit more than once. Although the length of the tour is not the best, you can enjoy the whole complex if you don't waste too much time.
