Step by Step
The experience begins in the Malostranská area, where you’ll meet your guide before taking the tram to Prague Castle. From the outset, you’ll be accompanied to help you find your way around one of the city’s most extensive monumental complexes.
Once inside the grounds, you’ll enter St Vitus Cathedral, one of the castle’s great landmarks. There you’ll be able to admire its Gothic architecture, its stained-glass windows – including one designed by Alfons Mucha – and some of its most important burial chambers.
The tour continues through the Old Royal Palace, where the impressive Vladislav Hall stands out. You’ll also visit the room associated with the famous Defenestration of Prague, one of the events that helped trigger the Thirty Years’ War.
You’ll then visit St George’s Basilica, one of the oldest religious buildings in the complex, and finish at the Golden Lane, a narrow street lined with historic houses that, at various times, was home to craftsmen, goldsmiths and figures such as Franz Kafka.
Throughout the tour, the guide will explain the historical context of each site, and you’ll use headphones to follow the commentary more easily, even when the group is on the move.
