Step by Step

The observation deck on the 88th floor of the Jinmao Tower offers one of the most spectacular views of Shanghai. From its enormous observation deck, you can take in the urban density and architectural contrasts that define the city's skyline, with the Huangpu River tracing a divide between historic past and futuristic modernity.

The interior structure of the observation deck is decorated with imported natural marble, with a wall thickness of only 3mm for the stones, emphasising the visual lightness of the design despite its monumental scale. The glass walls of the façade allow you to look out over both sides of the river and enjoy the wonderful light at sunrise or sunset.

In addition to the observation deck, you can also look down on the hotel's gigantic atrium that occupies the middle levels of the Jinmao Tower, a circular space 27 metres in diameter with circular walkways that are illuminated at night, creating a visual effect that many describe as a "time-space tunnel".

The experience is further heightened by the two lifts that allow visitors to be transported quickly, each with a capacity of 33 people, travelling at a speed of 9.1 metres per second. It's not just the journey that impresses, but also the visual impact when you reach the observation deck, when the city spreads out beneath your feet like a living tapestry.
