Step by Step

ArtVo Melbourne is designed to break with the traditional concept of a museum. Here, you don’t have to keep your distance from the artworks: quite the opposite, in fact. Each installation is designed for you to step inside, strike a pose and play with perspective.

The scenes cover entire walls, ceilings and floors, creating visual effects that change depending on your vantage point. With a simple photograph, you can appear to be suspended in mid-air, surrounded by animals or inside an impossible landscape.

The tour constantly changes atmosphere. In just a few minutes, you can go from desert dunes to tropical rainforests or polar ice caps, as well as finding yourself inside reimagined versions of well-known works of art.

The experience works particularly well if you enjoy taking creative photos, as each room is designed to encourage different compositions and poses. You don’t need to follow a strict itinerary and can proceed at your own pace.

Lasting approximately one hour, it’s a light-hearted, visual and highly interactive activity that’s perfect for combining with other visits around Melbourne.
