Step by Step

This full-day excursion takes you to the three great archaeological icons around Cairo: the Giza Plateau, the necropolis of Saqqara and the ancient city of Memphis. It's a perfect way to concentrate the best of Ancient Egypt in a single day, with the convenience of organised transport, guide and lunch.

The experience begins with pick-up from your hotel in downtown Cairo (or Hurghada), from where you will travel in an air-conditioned vehicle to the Giza Plateau. There, the pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinos, the most famous ensemble of Ancient Egypt, await you. Your Egyptologist guide will explain the history of their construction, their funerary function and the theories about how these colossal structures were built, while you have time to take photos and admire the desert landscape.

Nearby, you will also visit the enigmatic Sphinx of Giza, a timeless symbol of Pharaonic power. You will be able to get a close look at the monumental statue with the body of a lion and a human head and listen to the stories and legends surrounding it, as well as explanations about the associated Valley Temple.

Next stop is Saqqara, one of Egypt's oldest and largest necropolises. Here you will find the famous step pyramid of Pharaoh Zoser, considered the first pyramid in history. You will walk around the area, see tombs, the remains of funerary complexes and understand how the architecture evolved into the "classical" pyramids of Giza.

The day is rounded off with a visit to Memphis, the ancient capital of the Ancient Empire. In the archaeological area you will see the remains of temples and, above all, colossal statues of Ramses II and other remains that show the importance of this city in its time. Between visits, you will enjoy lunch in a local restaurant, included in the activity, to recharge your batteries.

At the end of the day, the vehicle will take you back to your hotel, after an intense and very complete day in which you will have travelled through thousands of years of Pharaonic history with the help of a specialised guide.
